Angie Lau

Angie Lau is an award-winning business journalist who interviews newsmakers and CEOs. Her exclusives include a sit-down with Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing — his first televised one-on-one in more than a decade. Before founding Forkast.News, Angie anchored Bloomberg TV’s flagship morning show, “First Up with Angie Lau'' broadcasted globally into 350 million homes and offices.

What makes you a Risky Woman?

When most people go one way, Angie gets more excited going in the opposite direction. She accomplishes everything she sets out to do, no matter how long it takes. Angie is ultimately not doing anything more than what the person beside her is equally capable of doing -- she just has the audacity and the conviction to know what she wants and goes after it.

Name your top 3 achievements

  1. Launching Forkast
  2. Anchoring to millions globally
  3. Being a mother

What is the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

The biggest risk was going backwards to join a bigger company (leaving a higher position in a smaller news station to join Bloomberg in 2008). But ultimately she saw it would create an opportunity to seize the bigger prize. And it paid off in the end.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

Angie is actually a little bit of an introvert! She prefers JOMO (Joy of Missing Out) to FOMO.

What is the best quality for successful leaders in Risk?

It's not risk if you have conviction. Successful leaders must have conviction.
